STATE BANK OF TRAVANCORE
The Travancore State Bank was established as the Travancore Bank on September 12, 1945 under the patronage of then-Travancore Maharaja. It was the first public sector bank in India to link its network via satellite in 1994. It was also the first public sector bank to provide ATMs in Kerala, also during the same year.
To give more impetus to the SSI sector, the bank has decided to open SSIbranches even outside its main districts in Kerala. It also entered into a new business viz viz lease in 1994-95.
SBT arrived with a fast Tele-banking customer service for the first time at the Pottam branch. In addition, the bank proposes to introduce `Anywhere Banking 'whereby the computerized branches located in a city can be interconnected so that the client of one of these branches can carry out commercial transactions in any branch within the cluster.
During 2005-2006, Banks P & SB's branch in Bangalore and Region III, Chennai gained ISO certification, in addition to the renewal of certification with respect to NIR Thiruvalla, SSI Kottayam and commercial branch, Chennai.
